Singapore Airlines A380 Business Class: The Double Bed Guide (2026)

For couples traveling together, there is no greater prize in the sky than the Singapore Airlines A380 Double Bed. While the First Class Suites get all the Instagram fame, savvy travelers know that you can get a similar "honeymoon" experience in Business Class for half the price—if you know exactly which seats to pick.

But here is the catch: In a cabin of 78+ seats, only 6 seats actually form a double bed.

This guide will show you exactly how to secure them, which routes fly the A380 in 2026, and what to expect from the experience.

The "Double Bed" Secret: Which Rows to Book?

On the Singapore Airlines A380, the Business Class cabin is located on the upper deck. The seats are arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration. While all center seats have a privacy divider that lowers, most do not form a double bed.

In standard rows, a large fixed console separates your legs, meaning you are sleeping near each other, not with each other.

To get the full double bed experience, you must book the Center Bulkhead Seats. These seats lack the footwell cubby, offering a full-width bench that allows the beds to meet (almost) seamlessly.

The Magic Numbers

  • Row 11 (Seats 11D & 11F): The most private pair, located in the forward mini-cabin. These are often blocked for PPS Club members until 96 hours before departure.

  • Row 91 (Seats 91D & 91F): Located in the second cabin section.

  • Row 96 (Seats 96D & 96F): Located in the rear cabin section.

Warning: Row 96 is close to the lavatories and galley, making it the least desirable of the three options. Aim for Row 11 or 91 first.

The Experience: What it's really like

Is it a true double bed like in a hotel? Not exactly.

  • The Divider: Even when fully lowered, there is a hard plastic divider between the two seats near your head. The crew will place a thick bedding pad over it, but you will feel a "bump" in the middle of the bed.

  • The Foot Space (The Real Benefit): The biggest complaint about Singapore Airlines Business Class is the "diagonal sleeping" position in standard seats. You have to angle your legs into a small cubby. The Bulkhead Double Beds solve this. You get a massive, full-width bench for your feet, allowing you to sleep straight. This alone makes these seats worth the upgrade.

  • Couple's Dining: With the divider down, you can effectively dine together. It's not a face-to-face restaurant table, but it's close enough to toast champagne without leaning over an aisle.

The "Bassinet" Risk

Crucial Warning: Row 11 is the prime spot, but it is also the bassinet row. If a passenger with an infant books the flight, Singapore Airlines reserves the right to bump you from these seats to accommodate the baby. While rare for Business Class, it happens. Row 91 and 96 also have bassinet fittings, so be aware that you might be near a crying baby even if you aren't moved.

2026 Route Guide: Where to Find the A380

Singapore Airlines has reduced its A380 fleet, meaning it only flies to select high-demand hubs. If you are flying from the US, your options are extremely limited.

For US Travelers (The "Fifth Freedom" Hack)

There is only one way to fly the Singapore Airlines A380 from the United States:

  • New York (JFK) to Frankfurt (FRA)

  • Flight Numbers: SQ25 (Outbound) / SQ26 (Inbound)

  • Why it works: This flight continues to Singapore, but you can book just the JFK-FRA leg. It is one of the most stylish ways to cross the Atlantic.

Note: The A380 does not fly to Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), or Seattle (SEA) in 2026. Those routes use the A350 or 777.

For Global Travelers

If you are connecting through Singapore (SIN), you can find the A380 on these key routes in 2026:

  • Europe: London Heathrow (LHR), Frankfurt (FRA)

  • Australia: Sydney (SYD)

  • Asia: Mumbai (BOM), Delhi (DEL), Shanghai (PVG), Hong Kong (HKG)

  • Middle East: Dubai (DXB) - New for 2026!

How to book these seats

Because there are only 3 pairs of double beds on the entire plane, they disappear fast.

  1. Book Early: These seats are often snatched up 11 months in advance.

  2. Check the Block: Row 11 is often "blocked" for elite status members. If you can't select it at booking, set a reminder to check 96 hours (4 days) before your flight. This is when unassigned elite seats often open up to the general public.

  3. The "Standard" Fare Rule: If you book a "Business Lite" fare, you may not be able to select these seats for free until check-in (by which time they will be gone). Booking a "Business Standard" or "Flexi" fare usually allows for earlier seat selection.

Solo travelers: Avoid these seats!

If you are flying alone, do not book 11D/F, 91D/F, or 96D/F.

  • Privacy Issue: The divider between these seats does not go all the way to the ceiling. If your neighbor stands up, they can look right down at you.

  • The Better Choice: Book the window seats in the same rows (11A/K, 91A/K, 96A/K). You get the same massive legroom bench and straight sleeping position, but with total privacy and a view.

Is it worth it?

If you are traveling as a couple, absolutely. The ability to lower the divider, share snacks, and watch movies together on a massive screen creates a shared experience that standard business-class seats simply can't match.

Even if you are flying solo, these bulkhead seats (11A/K, 91A/K, 96A/K) are the best on the plane because of the extra legroom—just don't expect a double bed!
